Here’s a cool way to make text float on a wavy surface. Here’s the scene file so you can break it down.

I know the “a” comes out of the water a bit but I don’t have time to render out the fixed version. (at work… shhhhh)

Carbon Fiber Material

Here is a Carbon Fiber material I put together in Cinema 4D. Much less messy than using the real thing. Turned out pretty cool. If you make any cool changes let me know. I’d love to see an improved version. Happy Motion Graphixing!

(remember to adjust the tile settings on your texture tag to fine-tune the weave)

Ok… so I work as a Motion Graphic Designer in a casino and I have to do a lot of money falling, flying, stacking, etc, etc… I’m currently developing a Cinema 4D preset that will allow you to make any form of American currency at the click of a button. You’ll be able to make bills fall, fan out, stack up… what ever you think up. Make all the money you’ve ever dreamed of! Coming soon. For now, here is a free model of a $100 Bill that can be used as a custom particle in “Particular” as in the example above. Feel free to post any comments or features that you’d like to see included in the preset… besides it turning into real money.

Primitive Primitives: Latest 5 Second Project

Well, here is my latest five second project. I thought I got it in in time but when I went to post on the blog it said “Closed”. Think it might be based on Chicago time and I’m in Southern California… that’s what I get for waiting ’till the last minute.

Anyway, I learned a lot on this project. How to animate materials on an object. How to use “waveworld” from After effects + sub polly displacement in Cinema to create ripples in the puddle… etc, etc. All in all this was a good learning experience. Looking forward to the next one.
